About Horse hair Raku

The pottery is rapidly fired in a gas kiln to around 1500F. The ceramic piece is then removed from the kiln and strands of horsehair are applied to its surface while it's still glowing hot. The heat incinerates the horsehair, leaving behind carbonized, smoky black patterns that create unique, organic designs. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, with the unpredictable lines and textures.
